Missouri law regarding the repair, remodeling, or addition of owner-occupied residential property states that no person other than the original contractor "shall have a lien unless the owner of the building or structure pursuant to a written contract has agreed to be liable for such costs in the event that the costs are not paid." This form allows the property owner to agree that parties other than the contractor may claim a lien against the improved property.
