Transfer of title can therefore be made by a Bill of Sale. A Bill of Sale also constitutes a record of the transaction for both the seller and the person buying the automobile. It can provide the seller with a record of what has been sold, to whom, when, and for what price. A certificate of title to the automobile will most likely also have to be signed by the seller, delivered to buyer and forwarded to the motor vehicle controller of the state in which the car is sold.
