James Brown Last Will and Testament

Read the Last Will and Testament of James Brown (1933-2006), the Godfather of Soul.

James Joseph Brown was an American singer and entertainer, who started singing in church and talent contests, and dancing for money as a child. From the age of 6, he lived with his aunt, who ran a brothel. Brown began his professional career in 1956 and gained fame quickly through a string of smash hits and electrifying live concerts.

He has been recognized as one of the most influential figures in the 20th century popular music and was often referred to as "the hardest working man in show business". Brown's career spanned half a century and influenced the development of many different musical genres. Although he contributed much to the music industry, Brown held the record as the artist who charted the most singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart without ever hitting the number one spot.
